Inoviem Scientific rewards Prof. Heike Allgayer
Strasbourg – January 5.
The Inoviem Scientific Excellence Award has been created to support scientific excellence among academic researchers. It supports a researcher that dedicates its research to answer an unmet medical need through an innovative approach.
After 9 weeks of contest, the scientific board has the great pleasure to announce that Professor Heike Allgayer is the winner of the Inoviem Scientific Excellence Award for her research project suggestion “Mechanisms of resensitization towards EGFR-based therapies of carcinomas by artesunate”.
Prof. Allgayer is the head of the department of experimental surgery (Medical Faculty Mannheim, University of Heidelberg) and adjunct professor and head of the molecular oncology of solid tumor unit at the Deutsches Krebsforschungszentrum (DKFZ) in Heidelberg.
This award will allow Prof. Allgayer to benefit from the expertise and the cutting-edge technologies of Inoviem Scientific, for the description of the mechanism(s) underlying the resensitization of EGFR-based therapies by artesunate. The fact that a high number of, e.g., colorectal or lung cancer patients are resistant towards EGFR-based targeted therapy is a highly problematic medical issue, and overcoming this problem would benefit many cancer patients.
The whole Inoviem Scientific team congratulates Prof. Allgayer for this award and is looking forward to work on her research suggestion.
